The festive season!

Festive HollyHogmanay

Auld year’s night – New Year's Eve

Smile There are some traditions before midnight such as cleaning the house on 31st December.

Smile There is also a superstition to clear all your debts before “the bells” ring at midnight.

Smile Immediately after midnight it is traditional to sing Robert Burns’ (famous Scottish poet) “Auld Lang Syne”.

Smile As part of Hogmanay everyone welcomes friends and strangers with warm hospitality and of course a kiss to wish a good New Year.

Smile “First footing” (the “first foot” in the house after midnight) is still common in Scotland. To ensure good luck for the house, the first person should be male, dark and should bring coal, shortbread, salt, Black Bun or whisky to symbolise good fortune in the New Year.

My favourite Christmas song

“Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
had a very shiny nose,
and if you ever saw it,
you would even say it glows...”
